Smart logistics is a new generation logistics solution enabled by LiDAR technology. Multi-line mechanical LiDAR is the main sensor to scan the environment of vehicle working area. What is LiDAR, and how is it applied in smart logistics?

We are all familiar with radio frequency and its application in detecting and tracking objects. Sonar technology is also similar to sound waves used to sense objects on the ocean floor. Similarly, in LiDAR systems, light waves, especially laser beams, are used to detect objects. The laser beam here does not refer to visible multi-color light. The beam is in the infrared region, invisible to the normal human eye. Light strikes objects around it and reflects back from the light source. The time required for beam propagation is measured and analyzed accordingly.

In addition to LiDAR’s numerous applications in agriculture, automation, security systems, transportation, mapping, mining, retail, and more, real-time LiDAR applications include logistics and distribution channels. The logistics distribution sector is mainly attached to the manufacturing and retail industries, and it is very necessary to implement intelligence in this area, which is also an important part of the economy.

The smart logistics uses an AGV that navigates on laser beams. Moving along a shared distribution path, it accurately delivers raw materials and goods to their destinations and provides detailed logistics information to users in a precise manner. If any goods are lost in transit, the system can help find the missing goods. Overall, an efficient logistics system is maintained through LiDAR.

Multi-line mechanical LiDAR is used as the main sensor to scan and detect the regional environment of the vehicle. Laser 3D slam technology is used to conduct incremental real-time map modeling of the large scene, so as to provide accurate 3D laser high-precision map information planning and back-end matching positioning for the path.
