Flying Car Obstacle Avoidance Solution

LiDAR can obtain huge amounts of data under the cm-level accuracy, after overlapped collecting high-density on repeated Angle, then forming the dense point cloud. High-precision detection of the obstacles close to flying car and blind detection can be realized. High-resolution scan can possibly recognize the invasion of objects or obstacles to achieve flexible obstacle avoidance, such as detection of high voltage cable, small UAV and the small high-suspended solids from the other directions.

The flying car obstacle avoidance system designed by LSLIDAR can be installed on various types of flying cars. When the flying car is driving on the ground and flying in the air, it can monitor whether there is obstacle invasion in real time, and carry out accurate flight height detection, so as to escort the flying car throughout the whole journey.

Long-distance forward obstacle intrusion detection

The system is equipped with LSLIDAR MS03 Series in the front of the flying car. The detection range can reach 1000m~2000m, and the horizontal field of view is 120°. It can effectively detect other flying cars or drones on the flight path and other high-speed invasive obstacles, accurately detect the size, shape, position and speed of the intruders. It also provides accurate prediction information for the calculation of control platform and the control of flying car

High-precision peripheral perception detection

The system equipped with LSLIDAR LS23 series can detect obstacles near flying cars and blind spot. Detection range of LiDAR is up to 500 meters, the system with high resolution scanning can possibly identify intruders or obstacles, such as high voltage cable, small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), high altitude floater small objects from the other direction, easily realizing flexible obstacle avoidance.

Precise flight altitude
detection

Equipped with the LS70B series on the vehicle, the remote sensor has a range accuracy of centimeters, a detection range of 150m in strong outdoor light, a high refresh frequency and a protection class of IP67 to provide accurate altitude data in real time.

Features: Non-contact data acquisition with high security

This system adopts non-contact scanning technology, directly collecting the accurate and secure point cloud of the obstacle’s location without dealing with the target’s surface, which is very suitable for long-distance obstacles detection and alarm.

Real-time, dynamic, and proactive

The system collects and processes information at the same time, and actively scans the scene in a dynamic real-time environment, perceiving the airspace situation ahead in advance, and saving more time for obstacle avoidance.

High resolution and precision, dense point clouds

LiDAR can acquire massive data with centimeter-level accuracy, and form high-density point clouds by densely collecting and overlapping repeated angles.

High light resistance, free from environmental interference

LiDAR adopts pulsed laser with high light resistance is not affected by natural light, the flying vehicle light brightness is high and supports IP67 protection level. The laser pulse emitted by LiDAR has high light resistance, which is not affected by natural light and strong light of flying cars, and the protection level reaches IP67.

Easy Installation

The three LiDARs are small and easy to mount in a depressed location to perfectly fit the appearance of the flying car. According to the perception requirements of the flying car in different directions, the combination of long range and medium range LiDARs (MS03 and LS23) can be installed in the front, and the laser range finder (LS70B) can be installed under the flying car to achieve safe obstacle avoidance.
