What is LiDAR?

LiDAR, a radar system that detects the position, speed, and other characteristic quantities of a target by emitting a laser beam, is mainly composed of transmitting system, receiving system, information processing and other parts. LiDAR has the characteristics of high accuracy, long range, strong anti-interference, independent of ambient light, etc. It can effectively sense the environmental situation both day and night, thus completely liberating many devices that originally relied highly on human monitoring and control.

How does a 2D LiDAR work?

2D LiDAR is designed to emit only a single beam onto the target object to collect important data on the X and Y axes. It is an intelligent sensor used for detecting objects in the radar surrounding area and outputting real-time position data of the objects, calculating the distance and azimuth of the detected objects through the round-trip time and angle of the emitted laser, completing the sensing and 2D positioning of one or more objects in the surrounding area. Compared with the 3D LiDAR, 2D LiDAR has the features of simple structure, high-cost performance, and smaller size.
